I have been toying around with new technology.
twitter.com
It's a site that has shown little purpose to me thus far.
i have never cared what people are doing every second of every day.
Then it hit me. Use it for lessons.
The concept:
I make a twitter.
Students make (or already have) a twitter.
When someone cancels, i post the time to twitter.
Twitter then automatically sends the text message to the students who have subscribed.
It will also work for RSS feeds, for the students who use those.
As an aside, I LOVE RSS feeds. Genius.
This way, should you ever want to change your lesson time during the week, you'll be immediately informed of every time that's open!
Additionally, if you aren't enrolled in lessons, but just want a single lesson, you'll know my availability.
As to not abuse the system, the only messages sent will be for three functions....
- When lesson times become available
- When lesson times are no longer available
- Special events and notices
Here is how it works:
Visit www.twitter.com and setup an account (if you don't already have one.)
In the twitter settings, enable phone updates, and link your cell phone (with a text message plan).
Beneath the profile picture, click Follow
Click to enable mobile device updates for this person.
That's it.
From here on out, you will receive the lesson time updates via twitter.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions, but i really hope you take advantage of this new, and seemingly useful technology.
